I feel bad for the kid because even though he's pretty mature for his age, it still has to sting. I wouldn't be surprised if the slump continues for a few games at Norfolk because he developed some poor habits trying compensate for being overmatched. Hopefully, he'll get back to working deep into counts and being more aggressive with balls in the strike zone.

I think the extra year is locked up at this point. He'd have to be back up by late June or July and absolutely kill it the rest of the year to finish top 2.
He's gonna be back way before late June.

Let him get reset and get things back on track.

It was the right move.
Let him get reset and get things back on track.
My concern when he was brought up was his K rate, defense, and it was a PR move.

I don't think the front office that traded away its cancer survivor 1B/DH while trying to make the playoffs cares about PR

Also nothing about Holliday's K-rate in the minors was a red flag. Limited experience at second a small concern.

Strictly my opinion. How many 20 year olds get brought up and become stars?. Asking because I don't know and have no desire to do the research. I'm guessing the percentage is low. On the PR side. Even just on this board people were losing their minds when his promotion was announced.

Guys who debut younger become stars more frequently than guys that debut older. They're more talented, which is why they earned the early promotion. Generally speaking, of course. And not usually right away, if that's what you were talking about. He didn't need to be a star right away though, that's not why he was promoted. Just thought that he'd have been better than a solidly average player like Urias.

Jackson Chourio is the same age and has looked very credible. That was all I wanted to see from Holliday. Instead he looked utterly lost.

No doubt. But he's one guy. That's why I said I don't know the percentage and haven't done the research to find out. But with you bringing up Machado, might just mean the kid isn't ready.

Just for reference, Manny played in 67 more MiL games and had over 200 more MiL plate appearances than Holliday. Of course Manny also skipped AAA (which wasn’t uncommon back then for top prospects).
