I don't think he's quite rafter level, but I'd put him on the next tier down with 4-year guys like Anthony Cowan.
Good post. I still yell at the TV everytime Reese grabs an offensive rebound in traffic and brings the ball down, but he has come so far as a player in four years. As WIllard set, congrats to a True Terp. He will get his jersey in the rafters.

I'd put Melo in. Could be convinced on Queen.
Who's a rafter worthy player of the last 20-25 years? Juan, Lonny, Steve, Greivis, Melo?
COVID really hurt Cowan and Stix chances.

Maryland was very good 3 of his 4 years, who knows how that covid team finishes, maybe they make a legit run with Cowan, Stix, Wiggins, Ayala, Morsell, Scott.
I'd put his jersey in the rafters someday for sure.

Maybe if he had a 5th year, he would learn to step into the lane instead of simply pointing at the Michigan guy running end to end.

Yeah Cowan is an easy banner selection for me, 4-year starter with a conference title and let's assume they at least made the Sweet 16 with no covid, last people to check all 3 of those boxes were 01-02 guys

Just heard the midday show on 105.7 mention there are "rumblings" of rumors that Damon Evans and SMU might be something bubbling? And Evans cancelled his weekly call in segment with them today. For whatever any of that is worth...
Willard addressed the Villanova rumors by basically saying "Damon and I are on the same page and we're focused on Grand Canyon right now". Could that be code for "We're both out of here soon!"
That's a lot of baseless conjecture and taking things to an extreme maybe. But Oliver Stone and I talked this morning...

This is nothing to worry about. Maryland can do better IMO.

Latest I've heard is that Willard has been officially offered the Villanova head coaching job (very lucrative salary and revenue sharing pot), and they're waiting for a response. Also yes, Evans has been in contact with SMU for their AD opening.
Could be something, could be nothing. But both have definitely been in discussions about leaving Maryland in recent days/weeks.

Of course it could. There is some fire to this smoke. And its part of the reason I dont think MD is getting out of the 1st weekendJust heard the midday show on 105.7 mention there are "rumblings" of rumors that Damon Evans and SMU might be something bubbling? I dont particularly like either but the money is the reason both are leaving. MD will never have the funds to be a real player in athletics. Not in basketball or football. Thats the worst part of all of this
I don't want to initiate any change right now but won't be devastated if either or both leaves. Especially Evans. I don't know anything about their fundraising and that's the biggest factor for success now, so if those guys are critical for bringing in cash then I'd want to keep them.

They get enough money from being in the Big Ten alone for this to be a false statement. They just don't care enough at the top to continue to reinvest properly in basketball, which is what the school is known for outside of the state.

The revenue disparity from MD and PSU, Ohio State, and Michigan is huge.
Can MD better than either? Maybe.
But if they are leaving MD for what they perceived as greener pastures, you would think their subsequent potential replacements will notice.

Villanova has won 2 Natty's in the past decade. Evans sucks, we'd be lucky to see him move on.

I absolutely think the lack of funds is a real issue. That was the word the last few years. Yeah, we heard that some donors/boosters stepped up a bit this year but I would guess it pales in comparision to most big conference funding.
