If your fantasy league counts strikeouts and you've got Corbin Burnes on your team, you're off to a good start.

Rubenstein. Please throw some cash at this cat.
10/$330M is my guess. Eff it, pay him! He doesn't seem like a guy who's super reliant on velocity so his later 30s should still be fine.

Mocking Ben earlier about his Magna Carta questions and now Jim about how the ACC has not expanded into Vietnam yet. Just gold.

I know it's wayyyyy too early to scoreboard watch but makes me smile to see the Yankees down 4-0 in the second.

Maybe.
Then again, Scott Boras seemed to rack up as many whiffs in the free agent market this offseason as Burnes has today. I'm wondering if perhaps this is a trend or just an aberration. Teams seem to be balking at those long-term commitments to pitchers, at least recently. I guess we'll see if there's an owner out there desperate enough to make a big splash in free agency. That's where Boras thrives.

This Corbin Burnes ... just smh, but vertically, not horizontally. He certainly seems to be everything he was advertised to be.
This is gonna be a fun year.

Yamamoto is much younger than typical SP FA but he got $325M. Nola is a year older and isn't nearly as good as Burnes and got $175M. Just Snell and Montgomery that didn't get big pay days and there are understandable reasons for staying away from both. Aside from being 30 instead of 27 or 28, Burnes is basically a perfect FA. Gerritt Cole is the last guy of this caliber to hit the market.Maybe.

Best O's SP debut ever? 6 IP, 1 run, 1 hit, 0 BB, 11 K.
Rick Sutcliffe in 1992 ranks right up there.

I've only been able to check in from time to time but Burns had about as good a start as you could want.
What made him so good?
