Following their victory over Iowa, Maryland remains in College Park to face off against Illinois on Saturday evening. When these teams met in Champaign last month, the Terps came away with a big nine-point victory. Since then though, Brad Underwood's squad has lost just two games (to Northwestern and Michigan State). Their record currently sits at 18-6 (9-4), good for second place in the conference behind Purdue.

The biggest reason for their recent surge has been the return of star guard Terrence Shannon, Jr., who was granted a preliminary injunction against Illinois which made him eligible to play. He'd been suspended since he was arrested and charged with rape at the end of December. Since coming back to the team, he's averaging 20 points per game and scored 31 in their last matchup against Michigan.

Since joining the Big Ten, Maryland has lost to Illinois just once in College Park (in January, 2019).

EDIT: That game actually took place in New York, so Maryland has never lost to Illinois in College Park as members of the Big Ten Conference.

Illinois enters this game as 2.5-point favorites. ESPN gives them a 66.6% chance to win.

Didnt we already beat them at their spot. They want revenge. Im sure youre on the sharp side here as I dont really follow much cbb but they are a revenge driven top 20 team playing a crappy MD team. Ill play my narrative

I just read that.  Lefty built UMD basketball.  It's weird that he was a Duke alum but he enjoyed beating them!

Tis a shame. Figured he was in bad shape when he wasn't there in person for Lefty day a few weeks back.

Starting Five: Young, Harris-Smith, Scott, Traore, Reese

Batchelor is officially out for this game due to injury, and Geronimo is questionable.

Scott injured in warmups, actually while going back into the tunnel. Broadcast says he's out for the game.
