MacDonald is a big loss.  I think everybody thought before the season that bringing pressure was going to be a problem for the Ravens defense.  EDC brought in a couple of plug and play pieces, but it was MacDonald that got the most of them.  And he did it by designing plays to get the maximum from his players talents while still disguising what they were doing.  He also was very good at making halftime adjustments which is something his immediate predecessors did not do nearly so well.

Of course the Ravens defense is not going to fall apart because he is gone, but it wouldn't surprise me if they regressed a little bit from where they were under MacDonald.

Should I bet Kittle and the over on all receiving props in both SF/SEA games next year? If you ignore Kelce, god knows what Kittle will do.

John Harbaugh checking in.

I heard an interesting take on hiring special teams coaches to become head coaches. The point made was that they're super qualified because their job entails being involved with every player on the team. They even coordinate with the qbs on field position needs. Another big thing was how they had to be ready to plug in players on the fly from a lot of different positions on the team. The special teams coaches also have to be up on the rules and penalties on both sides of the ball and how they might impact field position. Special teams coaches have a finger on the entire roster even more so than the the OC or DC. I thought those were very good points being made and made me look at Harbaugh a little differently.

"According to Albert Breer, the Seahawks are targeting Jay Harbaugh to be their new special teams coordinator. He held the same job at the University of Michigan".

The Seahawks cut Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs today. Would keep an eye on them to try and sign Geno Stone.

Not only Stone, rumors have Seattle going after Queen in free agency as well.

Not that Queen isn't a good player, but you'd think MacDonald would know that Queen's value is in playing alongside someone like Roquan.

Or, Macdonald knows Queen best so if they sign him that tells us he thinks Queen’s improvement was not just due to Roquan.

I’m curious how Queen does on his own.

Like a lot of linebackers that left the Ravens for free agency riches, I think Queen regresses.  Maybe not as bad as he was the first couple of years here but nothing like last year.  Or even the 2nd half of the year before.  He still has holes in his game and I do think Roquan covered them up.  Hopefully, if he does wind up in Seattle, McDonald will be able to maximize what Queen does best but I doubt he lives up to how much money he's going to get.
