A Florida is still paying Dan Mullen not to coach, and the watch has already begun for Billy Napier, who still has over $25M left on his contract.
No, the U is not back. Yet. It’ll be a while before I’m ready to trust Mario Cristobal. But as has been his MO, he sure has some talent to work with in Coral Gables.
Dabo Swinney is very unlikely to get fired from Clemson, and even Tyler from Spartanburg didn’t think they’d beat Georgia. But man, that was ugly. Clemson should have addressed his transfer portal allergy in his last contract extension.
Notre Dame might go 12-0. What already looked like an easy schedule before the season looks even better, with FSU having been their toughest opponent.
Idaho is a quality FCS program, but no way should a legitimate Top 5 FBS team struggle at home against them the way Oregon did. The Ducks led by just 3 points until finally putting the Vandals away with a TD with 5:36 left to play. Oregon had best get themselves right quick with Boise State coming to Eugene next weekend.

This kills me every time I see it. Just hilarious. And I’m with Saban on this one. I can’t stand McAfee. https://x.com/colleg...60M8ZOe1IyiordQ

Probably.

It’s — odd — that college didn’t put more games on today and tomorrow. Holiday weekend, NFL hasn't started. Your only competition is baseball and the US open

BSL: Five Group Of Five Teams To Follow
As a complement to Mike's article, here's some smaller teams I think are worth monitoring this year
Checking in our highlighted teams
USF - comfortable win over an FCS cupcake, going to Bama next week so that might not go well lol
Kennesaw - held their own against a pretty solid G5 power on the road vs UTSA, good first impression and they covered the spread lol, host UL-Laf next
Toledo - another comfortable FCS win, should have a pretty winnable game against UMass
SJSU - pulled away late against pretty solid FCS team Sac State, 35 passes to 31 runs just to confirm Ken N will in fact quit on the triple lol
TexSt - played a close one against FCS Lamar despite out-gaining them 486 to 288, now hosting UTSA in a big test for them

USC LSU tonight. BC FSU tomorrow.

I almost get the feeling CFB doesn’t want to get too comfortable playing those days because they know when the NFL inevitably goes to 18 games and an extra bye week they’ll be back to starting the season Labor Day weekend like they used to. Still, until that day comes, why not do it?

USC’s offensive line has forgotten how to block in the 4th quarter. LSU has a good shot to put this one away.
And instead LSU goes 3-and-out then promptly gives up a three play TD drive to give SC a 20-17 lead. lol. Good game at least.

Bold call by SC to go for the TD there instead of the chip shot FG. Nice win for them. And to think Lincoln Riley tried to back out of playing this one.

The ACC looks so set up for Miami I struggle to see a scenario where Mario Cristobal can screw it up.
