Fact: Only twice in the past 20 years has the AP preseason #1 won the national championship. (Alabama 2017, USC 2004)

On the flip side, over the same span all but two national champions were ranked among the Top 7 in the preseason AP poll. The exceptions were Florida St in 2013 (#11) and Auburn in 2010 (#22).

Pretty dumb to announce it that night. Do it Monday instead

The national championship game is the night of Jan 20th, 2025. So it tracks.

I'll take that initial bowl projection! BSU can hang with Texas for sure and it would be a great place for the Broncos to play. We recruit heavily in Texas and some of our current top guys including Ashton Jeanty are from Texas.

Florida State and Georgia Tech have just kicked off the season from Dublin.

And the Seminoles took the opening drive down the field for a TD, and a fake xtra point for 2. 8-0.

And then Tech answers with a 6-play drive for a TD. 8-7.

A conference game on another continent, here in Week 0... not surprised it's a bit of slog for FSU, especially with the roster turnover.... but also not feeling great right now about my picking FSU to win the ACC.  Need to find a way to win here, and see what they look like in several weeks. Know some people are higher on Clemson and Miami anyway.

This Tech drive...  over 5 minutes, just running downhill.   FSU unable to get stops.
Even if the Seminoles escape here, that doesn't bode well.

Tough opening draw for FSU in a 12-team CFP where winning your conference is all that really matters. This would be no big deal if it was a non con game, but now the Noles could have little margin for error in the ACC if they don’t pull this out.
