Been watching while taping our pod. Definitely nice to see some shots fall in.
Also with the big early lead, MD has been able to stretch the bench and give some guys some run.... which keeps everyone involved / motivated / happy.
Lots of guys look like they are having fun tonight.
And the Freshman are building confidence.

Sorry guys but Alcorn is 299th in KenPom, you just can’t draw anything positive from tonight IMO. What jumps out to me, is 14 minutes into the game, they had a 5 point lead and were crapping all over themselves again. They got it going, great, but we stink.
MD isn't playing the opponent (any opponent) right now, as much as they are playing themselves.
Beating a SWAC team by 40 isn't impressive.
Scoring 100 isn't impressive.
You should do that.
But MD getting to the line for 40 attempts (again, should do that) is good to see.
MD hitting 14 three's, is good to see.
Kaiser backing up an encouraging outing vs. Penn State, with some more good signs tonight... I'll take that.
Harris Smith seeing some shots fall, I'll take that.
Lamothe using the time he got, and showing something, I'll take that.
I'll also take the Swanton-Rodger, Geronimo, Long, Batchelor group giving you something (again, they should produce vs. Alcorn State)... you've got to get positive contributions from that group.
Scott going 2 for 6... not great. Did have 6 boards, but for most of the first half wasn't doing that.
Alcorn State shot 44%... that could have been lower.
Total Rebounding was MD 33, Alcorn State 32.... that disparity should have been way higher. First 18 minutes or so, Alcorn State was up there.
All I take from tonight is they hit some shots, Freshman confidence is growing, and the bench / depth was productive.
Take those wins, and try and build on it.
Certainly can't pretend everything is fixed now.

I look at games like this as different. If the Big School wins by 40, so what. If the Big school struggles or loses the fan base goes crazy.
To me, it is about seeing players make progress.
I think we are starting to see Kaiser and DHS settle in. Kaiser came out aggressive and he is no longer hesitating or aiming his shot. DHS works hard when he is out there but has been very nervous with his shot. When he hit the first 3 last night, he seemed elated. The next two were smooth and easy.
Some good things happened last night.

Very nice game, hopefully Kaiser and DHS will build off this success and continue making their shots! If that happens, then this team will be a tough out. IDK why Willard continues to start Scott, he needs to come off the bench and only when no other options are available; Scott plays like he's not there. Kaiser should be starting. Lamothe played very well and also deserves alot more minutes, I loved his D and O and overall intensity, like Ian had.
Very positive outing let's see if they can repeat this.
