Just because teams have chosen to run the ball less that doesn't make it right. In all honesty, with the way modern defenses are built (lighter, more athletic defenders), teams are ripe to be run on; particularly late in games.

At this rate, it's starting to feel like the answer to this question is "if their starting quarterback can finish the season."

 

Crazy year for QB injuries.

The Ravens are an extreme outlier and are the only team in the league that should be running the ball as much or more than they're passing it.  That's been a constant with Lamar under center.  The second best running team by EPA/play is the Dolphins, but because they have the best WR in the league they should still be passing the ball a lot.  For just about everyone else they should be dropping back at least 70% of the time.

 

We're the only team in the league with a better EPA/play running than passing.

 

Of course we don't run the ball that much because running the ball that much means letting Lamar run it, and I don't think we want that just because of injury risk.
