Adam Schefter 1m  ·
Ravens’ HC John Harbaugh said that, after further testing, TE Mark Andrews has an “outside chance” to return this season from his ankle injury.

Im sure Andrews will give it his best shot. Would think anything but a SB run is still out of the question and even that is unlikely.

That would be great, especially for the playoffs, but I am not counting on it.

At the very least it seems like he’ll be fine for next year.

I believe healing is often slower for diabetics, so even if there’s a chance today it may not come to fruition.

After Bautista I'm not getting my hopes up.

TO suffered a similar injury in December and made it back for the super bowl. Earliest is probably AFCCG. Super Bowl is probably still optimistic but more realistic. Apparently TO risked his career to come back for the super bowl. TO had 7 weeks, it would be 10 weeks till the AFC championship game.

When's the last time any Ravens player came back from injury FASTER than originally expected?  Everything "lingers" longer with this team it seems than with almost any other.  Hutchinson went from "probably not playing" on Monday to starting and wreaking some havoc early on Thursday night.

I'd say the chances of Andrews missing the start of 2024 (which I know NOBODY has suggested is a possibility) are greater than the chances of his playing another game this season.  Fully off past Ravens rehab evidence...

Ray and Suggs in 2012? Dennis Pitta every time he blew out a hip?

Wasn't Marcus Williams expected to be out a lot longer with the torn pec?

It does seem like we often hear an overly-optimistic timetable on injuries with this franchise though.

Great news. Andrews is a true difference maker.

Personally I'd rather they just shut him down.

I'm in agreement.  I wouldn't close the door and dead bolt lock it, but I would have to be shown a near guarantee that he could not do further damage by coming back this season or I'm shutting him down.

That being said, the two hardest games to win would most likely be a KC on the road in the AFCC, or a Philly / SF in the SB and a returning Andrews could be a difference maker in either of those games.  So I could see the temptation.

I'd play him in the super bowl if he can practice. I don't think I'd risk him in the AFCCG.

The last thing I want to see is him coming back and a reinjury that goes into next season

These are pros though. They don't think like us. They push their bodies all the time and if there's a championship on the line they'll go for it. Happens all the time.

No doubt about them being pros. But that's where the HC comes in. Oh wait, we're talking about Harbaugh. Never mind.

I laugh when I see Harbs getting killed over player injuries.  He is not going to be able to play Andrews or anyone else unless the doctors and the player say go.  Harbs is just the guy on the podium, dreading about talking about player injuries.

Good luck in the playoffs, though.... I'll be watching from home.
