Following their close loss to Michigan last weekend, Maryland will close out their 2023 regular season on the road against Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights hold an identical 6-5 (3-5) record, and have lost their last three games to Ohio State, Iowa, and Penn State. Their loss to the Buckeyes in early November is their only loss at home so far this season. Greg Schiano is in the fourth season of his second stint as their head coach in Piscataway.

With a win, Maryland would secure three straight winning seasons for the first time since 2001-03. Mike Locksley would also receive an automatic one-year contract extension through the 2028 season with a victory this weekend. They'll also have the opportunity to win bowl games in three straight years, something that's never been done in program history.

Maryland opens as 1.5-point favorites in this game, and ESPN gives them a 54.4% chance to win.

Maryland should win by a TD, but Lox teams and Lia have always been up/down, so they could also lose.  The Terps should win, so I will give the points.  Lia and the D need to keep the intensity and hard effort all game, if they do this, Terps win by a TD or more.  If they self-destruct, which has been the constant in the Lia/Lox years, then ?  Lia, if he wants to play in the NFL, needs to show he is NFL caliber.

Maryland should win by a TD

I'll take the points if you're setting that line!

This should be a close game. Rutgers has a pretty good defense and a terrible offense, so I don't expect much scoring. Whether MD wins or loses comes down entirely to whether Good Taulia or Bad Taulia shows up.

This is not meant as a slam, but if the Terps lose, they should not get a Bowl game.  I know it allows extra practices and money, but playing in one of the Who Gives a Damn Bowl Game, does not make a disappointing season any better.

Just to expand, Rutgers' defense is probably better than just "pretty good" as I stated. They are #10 in the country in yards per play allowed at 4.7 and #11 in yards per game allowed at 297. Their pass defense is better than their run defense, which doesn't bode as well for MD since the Terps running game has been trash this year, so they have to win by attacking the Scarlet Knights strength.

No new injuries for Maryland today. RB Ramon Brown and DL Neeo Avery still out.

With at least 269 passing yards today, Taulia Tagovailoa would become the Big Ten's all-time passing leader. Currently sits in fourth place behind Curtis Painter, Adam Weber, and Drew Brees.

Also with a victory today, Mike Locksley will receive an automatic one-year contract extension worth $7 million through the 2028 season.

Depending on your location, it could be on an overflow channel. All games should be available on the FOX Sports app.

No one will be happier to see Taulia graduate than Matt Millen. He’s pronounced his name about ten different times over the years, none of them have been right lol

That’s a beautiful pass from Taulia. And great work from Felton to beat his man off the ball.

On just his first drive of the game, Tagovailoa has passed Brees and Weber. He sits behind Painter at second all-time.

Good fourth down stand by Maryland’s defense. Go score again.
