13th unanimous selection in the AL. 1st time an Orioles was selected unanimously.

 

Carroll was the unanimous selection in the NL too, 14th time that's happened in the Senior circuit.

 

4 other times, both the AL and NL RoY were unanimous selections in same year....

 

1987: McGuire and Santiago

1993: Salmon and Piazza

1997: Nomar and Rolen

2017: Judge and Bellinger

Interesting note on Votes.  Voting is public.  That may or may not be new (I don't remember seeing it, but that's nothing)

 

2 Writers from each city.  Baltimore is Roch and Noah Trister (AP).  Don't know I've ever read a Noah Trister article.

 

Also, KC includes Jeff Zimmerman from Fangraphs....that's BSL alum, right?

Also, this will get logged into the eventual 2024 Draft thread, but while final selections are pending FA signings and another thing or two, the Orioles have 3 selections before the 2nd round...
