The recovery by the Browns on Clowney's strip/sack was huge, the Raven's recover and they win.

The time will come when this franchise goes through a dry spell. Its happening with a great org and coach in NE. That should never be lost on anyone. At the same time, when you are clearly in the middle of a window of legit contention and you throw games as much as we do its infuriating.Part of me thinks that I should be enraged.
Part of me thinks that we might be the most spoiled fan base in sports.
Did you guys watch the Jets Raiders last night?

Starting to become so common now that I can't feel comfortable in the 4th quarter unless we blow out a team like we did against Detroit and Seattle. We even had to sweat out that Arizona game.
14 point lead in the 4th quarter? Fans should start leaving like we're down 30.

I'm curious to know why Mitchell only got three runs.

Reminds me of the early Harbaugh/ Cam Cameron years when they'd ignore Ray Rice for chunks of the game.

Agree with makoman. Only issue with Lamar and turnovers are the aborted handoffs. Have to fix that. I'm not concerned about him being loose with the ball as a runner or throwing an inordinate number of picks. He's not elite in terms of avoiding those, but I don't think it's a serious problem or fatal flaw.
I would love to try and clean up the ones that are bafflingly stupid. I don't mind taking some chances, but can't just toss it in the air, in play, for no reason. The end zone pick that was overturned and the late 2nd quarter pick were both awful. He rarely did that early in his career, but going back to NYG game last year it feels like it's becoming more frequent. Overall still fine, but those ones are low hanging fruit that can easily be fixed.
Regarding turnovers, Lamar's INT rate is highest in the 2nd quarter(3.1%), closely followed by the 4th quarter(3.07%). While in the 1st and 3rd quarters combined, his INT rate is 1.27%.
Generally speaking, in the 2nd and 4th quarters, there's a decent chance that you're trying to make something happen or you need to be more aggressive so having a highers INT rate in those quarters makes sense. However, particularly in the 4th quarter, it's imperative to play mistake free football as much as possible.
The tipped passes leading to picks are sometimes beyond control, however, there are times where Lamar's sidearm mechanics have caused passes to be deflected.
On Sunday in particular, while the game changing pick 6 was certainly frustrating, my issue was with the play call being an out route to Pat Ricard.
We were having trouble running and we needed to move the ball somehow but going to your 300 pound fullback on a throw outside the numbers was the not the best course of action, IMO.

As a look-back it's interesting and can explain results (like a baseball team with bad RISP numbers). I just don't know if it's meaningful as a predictor of how Lamar and the team could play moving forward. I'd use the whole body of work as a better source for that, though still noisy I'd expect.

I don't think I'd put much emphasis on quarterly breakdowns of rate stats. Even all 4 quarters combined is still a pretty small sample, IMO, though I've never seen any analysis done on when these stats start to stabilize so it's just a hunch.

Yeah, I don't know if there's anything overly egregious in those numbers but there is enough there to just pause for a moment.
Going back to the larger issue of giving away leads late in games, it really comes down to a lack of complimentary football. The defense can't seem to get off the field in big moments and then the offense either can't sustain a drive or gives the ball away in a big spot.
The other thing that needs to be discussed is the poor special teams play. Another blocked FG on Sunday. Along the way this season, there have been a handful of long returns given up and then there was the blocked punt, turned safety in the loss to Pittsburgh.
One constant during the Harbaugh era has been outstanding special teams play but that has certainly not been the case so far in 2023.

The blocked kick looked like Cleveland just getting smoked. I'd imagine he's not usually on the kick team but only got elevated due to injuries to Moses, Zeitler and Stanley?

Watson is having season ending shoulder sugery. The Ravens let a gimp do that to them last Sun. While down 14 points in the 4th Q. Completely unacceptable
36 for 178 on the ground was the bigger deal and more unacceptable IMO. Watson didn't do anything special.

He made too many crucial plays late. Both throwing and scrambling/running.

Njoku catching 3rd and 14's at the LOS and running through 3 guys for 15 hurts more than anything Watson did.
