Been very interested to see this current run of the team, since they brought up both the biggest young offensive guns they have. Max had 2 goals the other night, and Ivan had a couple hard shots. Watching to see how the defense and the rest of the team operates with them in the lineup vs some older veteran players is very important.

 

The PP has scored 5 in it's last 5 games. They are on a really good run again. Kuzy was knocked down to the 3rd line and Max given the 2nd the other night. Little things are telling a big story with this team right now.

Caps lose, they've been doing that alot lately.  In other news #8 has gotten a goal in 6 straight games.   Good for his cause if he still plans on passing #99

Lost 8 of their last 9 with the lone win being a shutout on the road against the best team in the league. 

 

Lindgren is killing my fantasy team, aside from said shutout. I think he's cut after this week.

Wouldn't trust any CAPS goalie until they overhaul that D. It's slow and sloppy. Rasmus was their key get last year and I think he's a liability on D. Carlson is losing a step or two, and a lot of the other guys are journeymen. Need to completely redo that blueline.

I should have known better. I picked him up when he had a really good first 7 games or so.

He himself, I like a lot. It's just the team in front of him is old, slow and playing terrible defense.

Season in a nutshell this weekend.  Beat the Flyers in an important division game and follow up with a loss to a team that's lost most of its games recently.

Pretty much. Everytime they pull it together, they immediately shit it away. They are on the right path. Gotta get rid of these bloated contracts and aging players and get the youth developed. No reason why you can't retool at the same time as rebuild.

Of course I have class on the night they beat the Penguins 6-0.  Going to Saturday's game against the Blackhawks so they'll probably lose that one.

Ovie with another 20 goal season, he's really come on after a brutally slow start to the year.  He's put in 12 in the 20 post ASB games played.  Caps may yet sneak into a WC spot or the last divisional berth.  (now watch them implode for me pointing out the improved play)

Caps made the playoffs with a 2-1 win over PHI in unusual fashion. With the score tied 1-1 late and the Flyers having to win in regulation to have a shot at the playoffs themselves, they pulled their goalie for an extra attacker, something you'd never do in that situation otherwise. TJ Oshie took advantage and netted the game-winner with 3 minutes left.

Apparently there's a little more to this story. Right around the time Flyers HC John Tortorella decided to pull the goalie, and before the Caps scored the game-winner, the Flyers had already been eliminated when Detroit scored with 3 seconds left in the final period to force OT in their game. If Tortorella wasn't scoreboard watching or otherwise alerted to what happened, then his decision still makes perfect sense. But if he did know, then he may have knowingly gift-wrapped the Caps the final playoff spot over Detroit or Pittsburgh.
