Following their season-opening victory over Towson, Maryland remains at home to take on Charlotte in a primetime Saturday night matchup. The Terrapins beat the 49ers by a score of 56-21 when they met in the Queen City last season. Their DMV ties have increased dramatically this year, after hiring Biff Poggi as their new head coach. Former Maryland co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Mike Miller is now Charlotte's offensive coordinator, and they added a number of players with connections to the DMV to their roster including former Terps pass-rusher Terrance Butler.

 

Maryland opens as 24.5-point favorites, and ESPN gives them a 90.5% chance to win this game.

The top dogs in the Big Ten are playing FCS teams, and Michigan is in the old SEC spot with the mid afternoon CBS game, against UNLV. Nebraska/Colorado might have already been locked into the Fox national game. Otherwise, weak slate indeed.

Fox picked that Colorado game back in May, thinking the Deion hype train would assure big ratings at least the first two weeks. It was a good bet to put the debut game at TCU in a prime spot, but had the Buffaloes got blown out last week, the Nebraska game this week might have been a dud. No one was happier when Colorado played well, and won, than the executives at Fox.

Ayedze is dressed, but reportedly not warming up with the starters or reserves. Looks like it’ll be Conor Fagan starting at right tackle again tonight.
