I visited Lahaina once as a small child, my grandparents owned a small vacation villa there. Not many memories but a few that are vivid. Gorgeous. Haven’t tried to look at the burn aerials and maps, etc. to see if the old place is still there.

I'm scheduled to go in a few weeks. That is obviously up in the air. We were excited to visit Lahaina. That obviously isn't happening now. If we go I'm looking into volunteering where I can. I feel so horrible for the people there...literally losing everything.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

I visited there once as a kid. Recognized areas that had burned.
What's scary is that while they can rebuild; fires like this are expected to become more normal for areas which aren't used to getting them.
