I heard Boulanger talking about this back in May. Pretty interesting concept. Not a end all be all, but I agree and like that they are having them focus on this at the lower levels. I'm glad that Hoes and Schoop are represented in the top 6 on this list.

Interesting concept. I'd love to find out at what point they begin stressing plate discipline. If you're a 19-year-old in the complex leagues or Low-A, I can't imagine that orgs stress plate discipline too much. I'd think they'd let those players take their hacks and begin to figure it out for themselves. I'd think by High-A though, a hacktastic approach will be exposed (21 and 22 year old college pitchers, etc) and that's when that kind of teaching begins to take place. I could be wrong.

How come?

I figure the sooner you start teaching good discipline and habits, the better... but I really don't know anything about it...

I think he meant as in players at the lower levels are trying to focus more on their mechanics and batting skills rather than other things. They definitely still work on those, but they can't do anything unless they can actually hit the ball.
