A matchup of two guys who actually could have and maybe should have been teammates.

Lyles is 0-5 with an ERA above 6, maybe the FO was right in moving on. Having said that I'm fully expecting him to shut us down today.

Greinke had similar stats before last night.

Frazier might get 500 ABs at this rate.

Frazier is gonna play 2b against most RHP. Im not sure why this surprises people in early May. Now, Urias might be the better option and eventually a AAA guy but it was never gonna be in early May. Btw with the same caveat of SSS and early May the fact is through 20% of the year Frazier is 3rd on the team in rWAR. Behind only 2 likely All Stars in Mateo and Rutsch. So yeah.

I think that was always the plan. They didn't give him $8m for nothing. That's why most hated the signing so much.

A third of his AB are against LHP so far.
No problem with playing him semi-regularly, just dont want it to come at the expense of anyone else. Especially anywhere in the OF.
Better not become a problem.

Ideally instead of a 3rd catcher or Ohearn we have Ortiz up and he plays against all LHP and Urias plays 3b. But thats gonna send Henderson to the bench against LHP. Some wont like that. As it stands now with the 3rd catcher/OHearn it becomes a choice of Frazier or Henderson vs left handed pitching. Ill take Frazier over Henderson right now if those are the two options. For one, it makes the defense better and two hes beem better against LHP so far.

IDK. Frazier just seemed redundant with what we already had at middle IF and considering the cost, unnecessary expense.
Sure would have been nice to trade out Frazier for whatever that version is at 1B and not named O'Hearn.

Maybe you have a typo somewhere. Henderson is 218/368/382 against RHP which is perfectly fine even though he's clearly struggling overall. He's 2-22 against LHP, and that's what he needs to figure out. Frazier doesn't have a huge split, 676 and 681 OPS vs RHP and LHP, so not even as good as bad Gunnar vs RHP. Career 747 and 661 in favor of RHP.
Yes I know Gunnar only has like 50% success rate in the field, but I don't believe that he's so bad so that's not greatly impacting my thoughts here.

Btw just looked up Gunnars splits vs LHP. Its really ugly in his big league career. Again, we all realize his age and the learning curve etc but its

Last two years OPS 670 and 642 vs lefties in the minors. Not great but adequate. Agree the MLB split is unacceptable but hopefully it's still a sample thing, it's 56 PAs.

Good stuff. Where did you find the minor league splits?vs LHP
2021 all minor league levels: .189 / .293 / .349
2022 all minor league levels: .208 / .316 / .354
Def feels like this may be a long term issue. Gunnar vs lefties.
