They keep finding ways to win. Rodriguez looked better. I still think this rotation lacks any kind of above average stopper as of today, but maybe Bradish can become that guy. They aren't built like a conventionally good team, but all that matters are the Ws.

I expect the defensive numbers to improve but it will not surprise me at all to see us end up bottom third of the league end of the year. That wouldve surprised all of us a month ago. I dont worry about Mateo and Urias. Both will be pluses. Frazier feels like he will be league avg. I dont really put much into 1b numbers. Gunnar legit concerns me with his actions. The throws, the mechanics, the hands. All of it really. I get he needs time, especially since we are relying on the bat, but we are also trying to win ballgames. I think Hyde should consider DHing him more often while grinding the F out of reps pregame.

In the OF I absolutely believe Hays is as bad as the numbers indicate. I expect him to once again be bad in the range categories which IMO is the most important factor in the OF. Mullins will be the one Ill be keeping a close eye on. Santander is what he is. Not anywhere close to ideal but in RF at CY hes actually decent enough. Whether its the added reps and familiarity or what but hes noticably more comfy playing 81 games in RF here. I like him in RF and Gunnar at DH with Urias, Mateo, and Frazier around the horn. At least vs RHP.

I mean it brings roboumps closer and closer to the show. So ultimately its a good thing. All that said, its really hard calling this caliber of stuff with really no margin of error. We are talking 6 inches being a really egregious miss. 6 inches on shit that fast and moving that much.

From what  I have read the robo ump technology is not good calling breaking pitches.

Go O's!  Hyde's BP managing is robotic, 1 inning and out, lefty vs lefty, righty vs righty.  It didn't matter that Baumann breezed through the 6th inning and was fresh as he hadn't pitched in 4 days, he comes out for another righty in Baker.  There was no point to pull Baumann out for Baker other than he did his one inning.  Also, walking the bases loaded was stupid even though it did work out.  Aiken was allowed no leeway, he had to throw strikes, and was lucky that Maton swung at balls.   Go O's.

I am not a Hyde basher like some here are, but I have never understood the need to use 5 pitchers to cover 5 innings.  I agree I would have seen if Baumann could have gotten us through the 8th.  I am sure it is a numbers thing, and maybe the idea that if you only use a guy for one inning, you can use him again the next day, but it does seem to tax a BP more.

I don't know why we're debating whether or not it was a wild pitch or passed ball. Who cares? It resulted in a win and that's all that matters. Let the Tigers figure it out and worry about it.

There is no debate.

We are having a conversation about the scoring of the pitch.

I think they want to have as many guys available and fresh as possible heading into a tough Bos series. But its still overmanaging. The bigger problem is Perez is a LOOGY now for all intent and purposes and not a particularly good one at that. When he spooks you as much in high lev spots as he does right now its gonna lead to quick hooks and added guys up and often into games.
