I think Gunnar's lack of hits and power so far is more alarming because he did so well in his stint last season.  So it feels like a regression, even if that isn't fair or accurate.  Aside from some typical reactionary grumbling any time he commits an error or has a bad at bat in a big spot, I haven't noticed anything but people granting patience to him, so I don't think anyone is really overreacting.

Like GRod you stick it out with him for a good while. Like into June. I am more worried abut Gunnar overall. My sense is he may end up a solid reg and not AS caliber player. Which is ok even for a former #1 prospect.

The league had a pretty small sample size when he first came up but now they're starting to create a book on him and it's up to him to adjust.  In the meantime, he'll still work his walks and get on base.  Like with Rodriguez, patience is needed now and Hyde should continue to put in him in the line-up.  He'll figure it out.

1) Zero reasons to be concerned.  Who is concerned?  I don't think hot-takes on Social media platforms qualifies as relevant.

2) There's this seeming belief that calling up your young guys somehow makes your team better.  The Orioles were worse when they brought of GH last season and say Odor more.  It's not an argument for Odor, it's an argument for reasonable expectations and the value of some more stable profiles in your lineup.

3) I don't think his defensive position has anything to do with anything at this point.  I think the lack of defense stability may impact his defense, but I think we're seasonS (more than one or two seasons) away from making that type of assessment about his offense.  Defensive consistency could certainly be a thing, especially for a young player....so I'd like to leave him at a spot (not DH) and let him settle in.  That's 3B for me.

4) I think it's hard for someone, especially a young someone, to get Boras' BS out of their head.  He's #1 prospect and RoY favorite and you can bet there's some 600M in FA at 26 conversation.

5) I'm hopeful he settles in like JRod last year.  JRod struggled out of the gate with a .544 OPS through April, but turned it up the rest of the season to take RoY so here's rooting for that.
