SMU trying to hire Enfield away from USC. This article makes it sound like an inevitability. SMU seems like a step down to me, but with the move to the ACC maybe not?

ROFL. Yup. Horrble AD
And Maryland couldn’t even grab him. And were given a pass for it. Because he wanted to live in LA. Make it make sense.

USC a better job than SMU (even with SMU moving to the ACC), but SMU has very very deep pockets with their boosters... who are very hungry for that program to again be relevant nationally. Think Baylor 10-15 years ago.

Down goes Arizona!
Over the last 30 years, how many strong regular season teams has Arizona had flame out early? Have to be near the top.

Losing in the sweet 16 as a two seed isn't exactly flaming out.

Or SMU back when they paid players before it was legal. Think Baylor 10-15 years ago.

No, a S16 is not a flame.... but it is underperforming for a 2 seed, and something AZ has done as much as anyone I think going back to the Olson years.Losing in the sweet 16 as a two seed isn't exactly flaming out.
Of course to underperform, you gave to be good enough to have big aspirations to begin with.

Right, exactly.
Program got the death penalty...and their boosters have been dying for a time to be relevant again...and now they can spend legally.

UConn just out here rolling everyone
They're so deep. They've got five guards who would start on what, 80-90% of D1 teams. Maybe that's an exaggeration, but I'm not sure it is. Or, they're so good at ball distribution that the PBP announcer constantly falls behind / runs out of breath.
