What a crap show in Winston-Salem at the end of the Wake / Duke game yesterday. Apparently Wake had less than a half dozen security guards whose job it was to secure the court perimeter to prevent court storming, which is to say their primary defensive posture in the past has been fan apathy. 

 

The narrative as to whether or not Kyle Flipowski intentionally tried to trip a fan running through him is a non-starter, btw. When a wall of fanatics is barreling towards you, there isn’t a court of law in the country that wouldn’t allow you to protect yourself. His actions were instinctive (and I’m not convinced he did anything other than be a 7 foot kid lumbering through a sea of lunatics). The forethought occurred when the fans chose to storm the court. 

 

Somebody’s going to lose their job over this.
