Dude's racked up an impressive negative -2.5 WAR in his last 4 seasons. Upward.

And not Stowers?

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Having a pulse with regular reps at 1B will keep you in the league for quite a little while it seems lol

And not Stowers?

O'Hearn gets $1.4M whether he's on the MLB roster or in the minors.  Stowers gets paid pro-rated MLB minimum ($720k/year in 2023) when he's in the show, and about a tenth of that for the time when he's at Norfolk.

Maybe that's not a part of their decision making, but its the way the money works.

Rather have O'Hearn sitting the bench than Stowers.

Agreed, I think it is always better having a veteran playing once or twice a week than a younger player who may have a bright future.

I don't trust Angelos and the Orioles, but I don't think it is a money issue in Stowers case.

Watch, O'Hearn will probably be in the lineup 2-3 days a week. The Orioles just love trolling us.

Pretty sure he has to stay down there for 10 days unless he's replacing someone who goes on the IL.

I have been a big Mountcastle supporter but it is time to try a platoon at first base.  O'Hearn seems to be in a good place and is getting good AB's.

Mountcastle shouldn't be starting unless there's a LHP on the mound.

FWIW, O'Hearn isn't the answer but like Hicks, gotta roll with him while he's producing.

Reminds me of the 2012-2014 teams where we'd sign a Bill Hall or Nick Johnson and they'd produce for a few weeks before being replaced by someone else who did the same thing for a few weeks.

I don't agree with that long term, but until he gets out of the latest funk, platoon them.

Except those teams didn't have legitimate prospects ready and waiting.

I kinda don't get it. I won't cry over the production these has been's are currently providing. But when exactly would be the time to allow prospects to make their way to becoming big leaguers? Or is that only for the blue chippers?

Cowser got hurt which is why Hicks was brought in.  If Hicks falls off like we all expect, I think Cowser gets the call at that point (and maybe McKenna back down depending on which of he or Hicks we prefer to carry).  I don't think there is an obvious prospect replacement for O'Hearn, aside from Cowser again but with some reshuffling.

Westburg and/or Ortiz for Frazier and/or Mateo seems parallel to anything done with Cowser.

Norby hasn't really been raking this year.  He might eventually be a bat-heavy replacement for O'Hearn or Mountcastle.

I would certainly not be hesitating to play OHearn against RHP every night right now. At DH or 1b. And if they want to call up Cowser and give him an OF spot then you move Santander to 1b/DH and you think long and hard about OHearn taking Mountcstle's ABs vs RHP. I would not hesitate to do it at all. Mounty should be hanging by a thread right now as a regular.
