This isn't unique to the Orioles, both Callis and Mayo have been asking their scout friends to send them stuff on a lot of these guys...

 

....they announce the Orioles pick...they pan to the group and Callis is shaking his head like "I got nuthin"

 

Not beating up the pick, it is what is at this point, there's a lot of guys off the macro prospect map.
