That’s the second blown coverage by Nick Cross that’s ended up in a touchdown for Penn State. He was responsible for a few of Ohio State’s scores last month as well.

Maybe that one was on the linebacker, idk

And Maryland goes 3 and out. Kinda feels like a score by Penn State here could end this thing.

After looking back again, one of the inside linebackers has to fill the deep middle when you’re in Cover 2 zone. They didn’t, and the corner route by the TE cleared the way for Dotson’s touchdown.

Good work by the defense to force a 3 and out from Penn State.

And they shank it! Great field position for Maryland to start this drive.

Terps do nothing with it, and punt again.

If you’re keeping track at home, I believe that’s four dropped passes by Maryland receivers that would’ve resulted in first downs. It’s Fleming’s second drop.

Maryland able to hold Penn State to a field goal, now trail 24-14 with 6:33 left in the game. Terps got the Nittany Lions into multiple 3rd and long situations on that drive, but aren’t getting home with their Cover 0 blitzes.

That’ll do it. Ugly late INT thrown by Taulia.

Not the way you wanted to end this one, but credit to Maryland for keeping things close into the fourth quarter. I know no one wants to hear about moral victories, but this at least shows tangible improvement. Hopefully it builds their confidence for the next two games.

I'm trying to be more constructive rather than piling on, but Tagovailoa really needs to do something about his body-language on the field. It seems after a play that goes poorly the cameras show him and he has the same pose every time....hands on his helmet with an expression on his face like the world is coming to an end. It certainly isn't helping him and I can't imagine it's having a positive effect on his teammates, who look to him as a leader in addition to being the most important player on the field.

That fumble on the bad snap near the goal line looms large. A score there and you’re in a much different position towards the end of the game.

They showed character today. Talent wise, and with all the injuries, shouldn’t have been as close as it was. Taulia was forcing it that last drive, but played a great game with no support from the backfield. Defense had zero answer for Dotson.

Now for the non-QB feedback. I suppose we should be thankful that normally in these games they make enough stupid mistakes to ensure they get blown out. Today they only made enough stupid mistakes to ensure they lose a game that was close until late (bad snap in the red zone, forgetting to cover Dotson in an obvious passing situation, Duncan jumping offsides).

So, I guess this is progress?
