Agree with this. I think Valdez gets dealt too if he's still doing his thing.

I'd guess not.  He's controlled for near ML minimum for another year, he fills a specific role and he's an interesting story.

He probably has zero projection right now (age, quality) so I don't see where he gets you anything, but he certainly fills a short-term void for the Orioles.

He'd likely pitch for the Orioles for 800k a year as long as they'd have him.  He's already pitched more games for the Orioles at age 35+ than in the rest of his ML career going back to 2010.

I hadn't really looked at his transaction history, but Elias does have some history with him.  Astros signed him in 2016 and he pitched in the minors there that season. Actually had a good season at AAA/Fresno, 12-1, 3.12 ERA, 138 IP with 13 BB and 114 K.

Maybe they’ll keep him around until he hits arbitration but at his age if they get an offer of anything decent he’s gone. I like watching him pitch so I’d be happy to see him stick around.

Angels:

They could be one team that would rather move early for help to try and build back some wins and more season is more season to leverage in an acquisition.

So my brother is a Reds fan and we've been talking about them over the last couple days.

Reds have made a nice surge and sit at 43-40 with some interesting pieces at both the plate and on the mound.  They have some decisions to make so we'll see what they do in the offseason, but with their recent surge, they are in some desperate need of relief pitching.

The 3 potential suitors I mentioned earlier are all still there...nobody is really doing anything in the NL East so the Braves and Phils still need some help and the Angels want to keep trying....but the Reds have dropped to 29th in MLB and between injury and terrible performance, they desperately need some help.  Given a number of factors, cost and service controlled guys would likely be their targets.

The interesting target for me would be Nick Senzel.  They have some roster management to do to try and make things fit and both Moustakas and Senzel are sort of odd guys out.

Senzel got pushed to the OF (he's not an OFer) and they've pushed him all over the diamond but he doesn't develop any real value for them in any of those roles.  He wants to play everyday, he can't play everyday there, so move him for real needs and compete.  He's under 2 years of service and should be back (injury) at the end of the month.  Orioles would likely put him back at AAA to reacclimate to everyday 3B with the projection as starting there in 2022.  Even if he hits Super-2 service, he's generally under-performed to date so he probably doesn't get much over 1M, if even that.

Plutko would actually be one of the Reds best relievers today and let them pick between Scott and Fry.  Maybe throw in a back-30 guy as a MiL piece like Darrell Herniaz or Joey Ortiz.

So maybe something like (or variation of)...

Fry, Plutko and Herniaz for Senzel.

That bundles up some lesser incremental value and targets need (Reds) and availability (Senzel).

Senzel is a former top 3B prospect that hasn't gotten the opportunity (Suarez) that he should have gotten earlier.

Yes. Can't image me the Reds being that willing to cut bait that they dump Senzel for nothing, but I'll take him if they do.

I guess Scott is slightly more than nothing. But I'd still make that swap before the Reds come to their senses.

I really don’t think the Orioles have much in the BP to trade, and especially considering how hard they have been worked.  I really don’t see Scott have much value,  He has the arm talent, but he can not be counted on to throw strikes,   If you are pitching for a 45-50 win team like the Orioles, then he is fine and probably their best guy.  If I were a contender, I might spend my prospect capital elsewhere.
