Terps were 10 of 15 at the line.

Outrebounded 33-24.

Just 3 offensive rebounds.

Terps finished 9 of 25 from 3.  Purdue just 4 of 17.

Scott may have been the unsung hero,  He fought Williams the entire game,

I think it was because every one felt like it was an unforced, inexplicable turnover. Started on first play with Wiggins kicking it off his knee on a barely defended handoff. The quantity wasn't bad. Neither was the timing. And Purdue wasn't capitalizing on them. But they were almost all completely unnecessary.

Also there was a bunch of travels and double dribbles and carries, for both sides, in a very short stretch in the second half.

I went back and sped through the game, and there were some good and not so good things that stood out..

The good

Wiggins - Purdue came out strong in the second half and Wiggins answered and kept Maryland in the game...18 pts and 11 rebounds and some really tough defense in 38 minutes.  Wiggins has added toughness to his game this year.   Maryland only had 24 rebounds for the game...Wiggins had 11.

Ayala- where Wiggins left off in the 2nd half, Ayala stepped up/   36 minutes-16 points and 5 assists, plus the clutch free throws that won the game.

Morsell-  Damn, I love watching this kid play.  He is fierce and not afraid to take big shots.  He hit the biggest shot of the game., but his willingness to mix it up in the post with 6'10" 270 pound Trevion Williams, sums up his career.  The man backs down from no one.

Scott,- the boxscore does not do justice to Scott at times.  Maryland has zero in the way of a big man, but Scott who is at most 6'7", has assumed the role of defending the post.  At times he gets overwhelmed by size, but he never stops fighting.  The Terps do not win yesterday without Scott.

Defense- The Terps play good defense and last night, they won because of it.  They made big shots down the stretch, but their effort on defense carried the team.

The not so good.  and there was not as much as I thought.

Hamilton, like Scott, he is asked to guard guys much bigger than him.  Unlike Scott he at times seems to shy away from it.  Hamilton is talented and needs to do more on both sides of the floor.

Marial--he really brings nothing to the team.  It is a shame, because he is one of the obvious cheer leaders on the bench, but he is so overmatched at this level.  I suspect he transfers at the end of they year.

Great breakdown Mike. Good stuff. Scott is probably my favorite Terp, followed very closely by Morsell. Wiggins has found some confidence or whatever you want to call it, he is just much more assertive this year, and it's great to see - the talent really shines through when he plays like that.

I really thought Marial looked better than usual.  Which isn't saying much, but it was noticeable to me anyway.

I really don't want to bash the kid, because it seems like he lost the years where his game would develop. but at times he really is a liability on the floor.  His big problem is he lacks the strength to anchor both on offense and defense.

Scott's been the most enjoyable part of the season for me, we've been pretty good recently at getting a major jump from freshman to sophomore year between Bruno, Stix and now Scott

He's been a total liability on the floor. He's got the same problem as Patrick Queen - he's supposed to anchor the defense and instead he's a zip code away from where he's supposed to be. Yesterday he seemed to have the right idea. He just doesn't have the strength or experience to get good positioning. The two plays I saw, he forced Trevion Williams into a really tough jumper (Williams hit it but that's beside the point) but then on the next possession he got beat on positioning by Williams who got the putback. But he was fighting in the right spot, which was a big improvement over before.

They were the only 2 plays he played.
