I've met a handful of you a couple of times in-person.

Most of us are effectively strangers, who oddly share a lot of time together.

I want all of you to know that I appreciate you.

I've previously battled depression, and been surrounded by dark thoughts.
I'm thankful to not be in that hell any longer.

2020 has obviously been a challenging year for many of us.

With wide spread vaccine distribution not likely until mid-'21, many of the existing challenges will continue into this coming year.

A normal Holiday season can be tough for people.
It's reasonable to expect that to be amplified this Winter.
If you find yourself in a difficult spot, please reach out. Be smarter than I was, and get help.

On a lighter note, thanks for regularly showing up.
Thanks for posting, adding thoughts, and giving your perspectives.
They are always appreciated. Nevermore than this year, as an escape from the larger realties.

Lastly, can make this a BSL AMA.
Have any BSL questions? Ask me here.

How many PMs do you get about people complaining about other posters?

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Less the last few months.

I'm thankful for my wife, my health and the health of those close to me, and another thing that I'm not supposed to talk about on here.

Oh, and thankful for that Lakers championship!

I'm thankful that I've been able to have a chance to get published here and perhaps more importantly, get fewer questions from family members about my career as a result of this

You are a quality writer, and you hustle.  You'll find a FT opportunity somewhere sooner than later, and they'll be lucky to have you.

Wife and health are great things.  Certainly reminders this year not to get for granted.

Also like that you added the Lakers.  You are a fan... people talk about sports being meaningless, and sure 'big scheme' of things they are... but when you are an invested fan, and you get that payoff... it's fantastic.

Many years tend to blur over time.  I don't believe this one will.

My healthy, happy, baby boy. Born on St. Patricks Day, right as everything shut down. Taking care of this little guy almost makes you forget about all the horrible going on in the world at times. Sure did make quarantine a whole lot easier. Felt like life with a kid rather than quarantine. Without him, god only knows how many hours/days would have been wasted, and how many pounds I would have put on.

The list of things I'm thankful for is much, much too long. I think I've ranted about most of it here, but having the financial security to put up with all of the shit that has come this family's way over the past 3 years has been nothing short of a blessing.  If all this happened in, say, 2012, I'd just be spending every day in the fetal position.

I'm paying it forward as best I can. It's been a ride, man.

For the AMA part of his, what do people normally drink for Thanksgiving? Feels like there's all the traditional dishes but no real agreement over the ideal beverages to go with it. I've stuck with apple juice mainly as someone who doesn't like drinking.

This year has taught me that I’m thankful for almost literally everything.

I’m especially thankful to get a chance to do the On the Verge podcast with two great guys in Zach and Nick. Thanks Chris!

Same.  And same.

I think I have found what works for me.  And what doesn't.  I am grateful I made it through.

It has been a really good year career wise, by far the best of my life.  Also, just got some news that next year could be even better.  I am close to "making it" finally.  My family is healthy, my son is healthy and has found the hereditary love of math and the f word.  My twin brother who has battled severe mental illness for years finally has a plan to get out of the homeless shelter and will be moving in to my sister's spare apartment in February.  I lost weight (the worst part of depression, IMO.  So much work getting it off) and am once again a fine looking man.

My wife's side of the family is full of heavy drinkers and that usually makes for a fun Thanksgiving when we host them. Usually whiskey.

It's just the 3 of us this year, but I might hit the liquor store anyway, as the Ravens are driving me to drink.

Thankful for the important things...health, family, friends...

Thankful that after having to say a tough goodbye to my dog of 11 years in 2018, it was finally the right time to adopt another one in April.

Thankful that despite so many small businesses struggling this year, my various gigs have sustained reasonably well, and 2021 looks promising so far.

Thankful that things like Sunday's Ravens game don't eat away at my soul like they used to. Maybe that makes me less of a fan than I used to be, but carrying around the burden of fewer things that are beyond my control is refreshing.
