Coming off their bye, the 2-2 Maryland Terrapins play host to Wake Forest (3-2 overall, 1-2 in the ACC). This ACC Atlantic match-up will be the first Conference game for Maryland.

Wake is coming off of a 34-27 loss to Duke.

I have a lot of respect for Jim Grobe and expect a competitive game. However, coming off the bye, this is a game that Maryland should win at home.

With the Orioles not playing on Saturday afternoon one way or another, I will be able to go to the Terps game!

This is a game they should, and need, to win. More than anything I really want to see them clean up the turnover problems.

From David Ginsburg's AP article:

"The thing that stands out to me is that they're physical," Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe said. "They've got three big interior guys up front. I like the outside linebackers; they've gotten good edge pressure from those guys. They've got (Kenny) Tate back, and got him playing up inside and he looks really good. They've also got a big, physical secondary."

Those three big fellows on the Maryland D-line - Joe Vellano, A.J. Francis and Darius Kilgo - have been instrumental in the 3-4 alignment of first-year coordinator Brian Stewart. In their last outing the Terrapins lost to West Virginia 31-21, and one of the Mountaineers' TDs came on a fumble return.

That same explosive West Virginia offense put up 70 points on Baylor last week.

"I still think we're a work in progress," Stewart said. "We're giving up way too many big plays, we got to be better on third down, and we got to tackle the catch. That's a plus that we're ranked and that we're playing well, but there's a lot of work to do."

Diggs puts a punt on the ground. Wake recovers. Several plays later the Deacons score, and take the 14-13 lead.
