For the record, I sent Tony a note and told him I would be interested if he did want to sell.

Congrats to him on what he's built and the best to him if he wants to continue to run it.

I was never a member of OH. The reputation of Tony, and his thugs, was well known to me, before I ever even visited his site. It sounds like most folks in this thread experienced that behavior first hand. If that site goes down, and people migrate over here, I hope they don't bring their group-think antics with them.

Good news! I saw a dog today.

People are people, posters are posters. It's no different than when you and some other former Sun posters joined.

Some people were apprehensive because The Sun posters had a reputation.  They would have missed out on you, who has added a lot as an individual.

My point being there are quality posters in lots of places.  Lots of individuals that I would like to see posting here...  but if they are comfortable in other places, more power to them.

There was a thread a LONG time ago when the core of us made the full time move over here. Let's just say there was a bit of a confrontation, and falling out, and the way it was done kind of drew some lines in the sand and sides were taken. I don't know if that thread is even still archived on here or if it's been deleted, but it was chocked full of stories and craziness.

There's probably another half of us or so that stayed behind as far as the main posting brain of that place. They are all awesome people in their own right so obviously they did fine without us too, and they added a couple of core people after that to flesh out numbers. But there's always been the CORE posters, and then a lot of traffic, one offs and lurkers. The latter became more prevalent when half of us left and came here.

Between that thread over there (that I'm sure was deleted) and the one over here as it happened, there's some real interesting history if you can find it.

It's amusing to me to this day because when it all went down, some of us rallied and kind of banded together, and others who supported stayed quiet in the background as to not take sides or draw the wrath. I really miss some of those guys...but I completely understand why too.

Thanks Chris, I appreciate the compliment. And I get your point. People behave in ways that their environment allows/influences.

I went over to OH, searched for 'foxhole', and found these old threads.

BSL EDIT: We don't need to rehash.

I've never had any problem with Tony but obviously some folks here have.  However, the "group-think" criticism of that site is quite overblown.  There are many differing opinions that have been and remain present over there.  A lot of the folks who complained about the group-think stuff are just people who get offended when others disagree with them.

Not for me.

As I wrote to Tony, life goes by quick... and I'm past any grudge I had.

I respect what he built, and admire his efforts to main that site.

I'm good.

Yeah yeah. I get it. It was different from your point of view than some of ours too.

I don’t see why anyone still holds a grudge or even cares.

It’s been like 8 or 9 years.

It is really no big deal but whatever, to each his own.

I didn't leave there on bad terms, at least I didn't think so. I never had any problem following the posted rules over there. It was some of the unwritten rules that rubbed me the wrong way. In particular the, "thou shalt not express an opinion here that differs from my own, and if you attempt to debate it, you will go on a 'vacation,'" came off as very thin-skinned. The part in that post about the Orioles scouting kind of sums it up in a nutshell....a person with a very old-school approach to life who can struggle adapting to change.

Like I said, I was never a member. But I saw a lot of people get banned (temp. and permanently) for sharing critical comments about the O's, or defending their opinions when they differed from the mods. Relative to the total activity on the board, it probably was a small percentage. From the outside looking in, it really did seem like a militant environment.

I thought he was a bully, and to me, he was the one who got offended when people called him out on stuff. I've found that it's usually the the people who love to call others "snowflakes" that end up being the most "snowflaky",so to speak.
