I recently saw this interpretation of a Cross Street Market upgrade -- I like it. That place desperately needs a makeover.

As long as I can still get those soup tubs full of beer for $5 before games, I'm all for it!

No doubt!
But aren't they coleslaw containers?

Guess it depends on what you order

Soup would be too hot to carry in those things.
Either way...great deal. I pounded a few before game 2 of the ALDS.

Supposed to get an upgrade soon...interesting to see how that turns out. First casualty of that renovation is Nick's, sounds like.

No more coleslaw container beers.

Yeah fun on gamedays. I was hanging there before game 2 of the ALDS in 2014. Good times.
Also stopped in occasionally before Ravens games.

Those beers were gigantic.
Also won't be nearly the last vendor at the current Cross Street Market to have its lease torn up.

There wasn't much there to begin with, so I guess the revamp is good, but I don't want to see it become some corporate market with a Starbucks, Yogi Castle, etc...essentially becoming Fed Hill's version of Harborplace. I hope it stays semi-local and independent, IE, I hope they don't jack up the rent.

Bummer. I doubt I'll enjoy whatever corporate bullshit they replace it with. Sounds like the new developer may be railroading them, hope they can fight it and stay open. I really enjoy gamedays at Nick's. Although I usually walk down to some of the other spots for food.

With 50+ health code violations the past 3 years, that was probably a good decision.

What a shit show this city can be.
Posted 08 February 2017 - 01:55 PM
This is a good thing. I'd be all for sprucing up Cross St Market a bit, but not if it means Nick's and other cool local places and vendors in there get booted out and it's reopened filled with Panera's and Starbucks and Chili's.
Would rather keep it as is than have it be like Harborplace.

Agreed, I would like to see it get nicer, but kinda stay the same. Just seems like this city plans for something for years only to have it fall apart. It's a miracle anything happens in this city.
Gotta love how they wanted the market to stop serving booze at 11 PM but the dozen bars literally eight feet away are serving until 2 AM.
Like that's going to improve things.

Mount Vernon Marketplace should be a good example imo.
I need to check MVM and R House.
