Ravens awarded two compensation picks, at the end of the 4th and 5th rounds. They got the third highest 4th rounder (130 overall) and the second highest 5th rounder (169 overall). This makes up a bit for the loss of the team's 4th round pick in the Lee Evans trade. Given how well the team does in the middle rounds, this is a real nice addition and will help the Ravens address some depth issues to replace the guys lost this offseason.

And also, gotta think the Ravens will do quite well in terms of compensation picks next year with all the talent that has signed elsewhere with no bigger FAs joining the team.

Nice..Glad we got the 4th rounder.

Of course, we should be given the Bears 4th rounder as well.

CSN Baltimore / A draft footprint for the Ravens

Interesting piece, looking at who was selected in the 29th, 60th, 91st, 130th, 155th, 169th, 186th, 218th positions last year (these are the slots the Ravens have in this draft).

MASN: With the 29th pick in the NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select...
http://www.masnsport...ens-select.html

"Each year before the draft starts, (director of player personnel) Eric (DeCosta) and (vice president of football administration) Pat (Moriarty) put together draft scenarios, trade scenarios," Newsome said. "Trading up four or five spots, maybe as much as 10 spots, and then trading back as far as 10 spots. It's already prepared for us. We make calls to teams ahead of us and behind us to alert them that we have the potential to move. That happens every year."

That sounds like a pretty strong endorsement for being ready for anything during the hectic moments of the draft.

However, the Ravens will be prepared if a trade opportunity doesn't come their way.

"At 29, I think the best way to start off is you'd have to have 29 players because you can't control the other 28," Newsome said. "So if you're on the clock, and the other 28 players have been taken, you have to be."

If that's the case, which positions are the Ravens looking at with that pick?

Newsome reiterated the Ravens are looking for offensive linemen, wide receivers, pass rushers and a strong-side linebacker.

As far as linemen go, DeCosta singled out guard David DeCastro from Stanford, guard Eric Zeitler from Wisconsin, center/guard Peter Konz from Wisconsin and swing lineman Cordy Glenn from Georgia."

Konz or one of the Alabama guys(Barron, Hightower, Upshaw,) is who I'm locking in on right now. Obviously, there are other guys in play but I think the Ravens would take any of the 4 listed above if they are available. In particular, if Hightower got to 23 it wouldn't shock me if they moved ahead of Pittsburgh to get him. My gut tells me they love him and Barron.

Ravens will have the move up ahead of Pitt if they think that highly of Hightower as word is he is very high on Pittburgh's draft board and he will be their pick at 23 if he is still available.
