Testudo Times: Maryland OT Jordan McNair in 'critical but stable condition'

Maryland football offensive tackle Jordan McNair has been hospitalized following an organized team workout and is in critical but stable condition, the school’s athletic department confirmed in a statement Monday.

“Jordan’s an outstanding young man and a beloved member of our Maryland football family,” head coach DJ Durkin said in a statement. “Our entire program is supporting Jordan and his family during this time. We’re continuing to keep Jordan in our thoughts and prayers.”

“More information will be shared at an appropriate time, and in accordance with the wishes of the family. Our thoughts are with the McNair family,” the team’s statement said.

Damn, hope he'll be okay. Curious as to whether this would be related to a similar issue that happened at Oregon last winter (theirs involved several players who had to be hospitalized due to the nature of the workouts). I think the strength and conditioning coach was dismissed over it.

Apparently this happened last Tuesday, so he's been in the hospital for over a week now. Scary stuff.

Ugh, sounds rough according to a Gofundme campaign set up to help his family. Seems he needed a liver transplant and is looking at a months-long recovery. Fingers-crossed the new liver works for him.

Just a horrible tragedy.

I know we have some UMD alums out there, so I wanted to share that the Alumni Association's "Terps in DC" group is holding a fundraiser for the Jordan McNair Foundation at Atlas Brew Works in DC on August 25th from 1:00-6:00. Tickets are $25, and you'll have access to $5 beers during the event poured by Madieu Williams, among other Terps football alums. I'll be there for at least the latter portion of the event.

For those who aren't UMD alums but would still like to support the foundation, their website is below.
