Freshman quarterback Perry Hills has been named the starting quarterback for the Maryland football team for its season opener on Sept. 1 against William & Mary, Coach Randy Edsall announced Tuesday.

Edsall took to Twitter to unveil a decision that had been all but a forgone conclusion since Hills had moved ahead of classmate Caleb Rowe as the No. 2 quarterback before starter C.J. Brown was lost for the season with a torn ACL.

Not surprising, but it's now official.

I figured, based on his tenure so far, that he would just pick a starting quarterback at random from the full roster. Then when asked about it by reporters and fans, he would respond, "Well, F*** YOU, that's why!"

I was expecting to hear he was switching Kenny Tate to QB.
