I know he's noted for Top Gun but I thought Crimson Tide was excellent. He leaves behind a wife (Donna W Scott) and twin 6 year old boys!

LOS ANGELES - Tony Scott, director of such Hollywood hits as "Top Gun," ''Days of Thunder" and "Beverly Hills Cop II," died Sunday after jumping from a Los Angeles County bridge, authorities said.
The 68-year-old's death was being investigated as a suicide, Los Angeles County Coroner's Lt. Joe Bale said.
It was a puzzling end for a filmmaker who had maintained a busy pace, with a sequel to "Top Gun," his biggest hit, in the works.
