Taking the other teams best player away is Belicheks MO. It's not a secret he tries to hide. It's common sense. It works on Pittsburgh because Roethlisburger is an idiot and will try to force it to Brown anyway.

 

I'm just saying, this is something everyone says. But it's not what he always does. Certainly not 100% of the time...the confusion at critical times is exactly what makes any defense good.

I'm not defending our call there, but the Belicheck always does the right thing notion is a bit overblown, IMO. He's a great coach, but I don't think he'd have any problem with Pees occasionally changing up the coverage on Brown and likely planned to evolve his coverage of Brown all game long.

I don't disagree with you on most of that. But I would bet good money that Brown would see double coverage all game. Whether he changed the look of the double or not is arguing semantics. One thing I would guarantee, Brown isn't seeing single coverage at any point under 2 mins of the 4th quarter.

Maybe we'll find out this year. I just don't think it's this simple. 

Again, we also gave up two 3rd and 14+ when doubling Brown earlier. So maybe you decide you have to give up that plan because it's not working either.
