CBS Sports: Friday Five: College football predictions so crazy they just might come to fruition
https://www.cbssport...me-to-fruition/
1. Texas will make the College Football Playoff: I've been somewhat silently banging this drum a lot during the offseason. While it's certainly far-fetched, it might not be as unrealistic as you think.
Texas, for all of its faults in recent years, is still a talented team. In fact, according to 247Sports' team talent rankings, Texas is 13th in the country and has more talent than anybody else in the Big 12.
Also, let's look at the Big 12 right now. Sure, Oklahoma is the favorite to win it, but Bob Stoops is gone. Lincoln Riley may be the right man for the job in the long run, but it isn't crazy to believe there could be some speed bumps during his first year.
Then there's Oklahoma State, which is certainly a good team, but it isn't a juggernaut.
There's an opportunity there for the Longhorns. If Tom Herman can work the same kind of magic in burnt orange that he did as an offensive coordinator at Ohio State and then as head coach at Houston, this is a Texas team that could improve quickly.
It's a Texas team that could win the Big 12, and if that happens, a playoff bid is within reach.
Cheers

When is last time they beat a ranked team much less a ranked team on the road?
They've lost 17 in a row, NC State in 2010 was the last. Dunno about the road.
