Elon Musk is as much a self-promoter as he is an inventor and businessman, so I think his doomsday calls are as much about getting attention as anything. But there is no doubt in my mind that while AI has the potential to do some wonderful things for humanity, there is just as much potential for harmful consequences if we aren't careful and conscientious about what we're doing.
