It worked out so well last year - Sedlock, Akin, and Dietz are all getting rocked in the minors. Seems to be an ongoing trend with pitchers associated with the Baltimore Orioles.

You need to go after the best players and stop worrying about position. It's that simple.

Always excited for the draft, I'll be following it over the next couple of days.

 

One comment I make every year.....

 

I know people want to suggest you just draft your board, but that likely (especially in baseball) limits the total talent grab.

 

If you know things (or think you do) about certain talent in the draft, the goal isn't to get them early, it's to get them.  If the industry position is lower on those guys, they may be higher on your board but available in lower rounds.

 

I don't have any issues drafting guys like Sisco, Mountcastle and Akin...if you're scouts are betting on them, great....but when it's likely you can grab them a round later, you get a chance to grab maybe some better (industry) projected talent at that slot and grab the guy(s) higher on your board in a later round.

 

You draft with a strategy to get the most talent on your list, not just draft your list.
