Lately, when I've tried to open Google Chrome, I click the icon on the taskbar, it flashes, and does nothing.

This also happens if I actually go into windows and double click the program, it "acts" like it's going to open, and then does nothing.

I've restarted my system several times and uninstalled and reinstalled the program.

Not sure what's going on here.  I'm running windows 7 if that matters.

Thanks.

Also, firefox and IE work fine.

I had a similar problem and had picked up a virus. Did a system restore. updated antivirus and ran scan. Removed and reinstalled google chrome.

Did you have multiple monitors by chance? (Silly question I know, but I never assume it isn't the easy answer)

I have my laptop screen and a display monitor that I use. I toggle between them. Never use both at once.

Yeah, I use multiple as well. If you have one off, sometimes your Chrome window (or other windows) can still appear on the task bar, but actually appear on the monitor that is off. That's where I was going with that.

Yea that's not the case here -- I really hope I don't have a virus.  It's my company laptop so maybe I'll just call IT tomorrow -- was hoping to avoid that

I highly recommend Avast Anti-Virus. It's robust and free (they will try and get you to subscribe to paid services while downloading, but it's free just stay the course). If you want to try and troubleshoot for viruses before taking it to IT, that might help.
