Curious as to what your take is on this.

His UZR, UZR/150 and his dWAR from BBR are all really bad.

What differences, if any, do you see in Nick's defense this year compared to years past?

To tell you the truth, I haven't paid much attention overall, but thought his range to his right looked pretty poor on that double that was hit past him last night (can't remember who hit it). Seemed like maybe a catchable ball, or at least one he could put a play on, and he didn't really even get close.

Yea, I commented on that last night(Thames hit it).

He looked awful on that play.

I don't think his defense is any different than it's ever been, which is average. I would love to know what Nick Markakis runs a 60 in and what that time is relative to other players. I think his biggest problem, is that he's slower than most people think. He looks like he's running hard but he's just not that fast.

Yep...Totally agree. He just doesn't have a ton of range. He isn't slow but his speed is probably average-ish, especially for his age and position.

I think Nick is similar to Cal in that positioning is very key for him.

One thing I will say and its not something we know, is I wonder if the ab injury has slowed him down at all(or if it at least slowed him down early) and if so, how much effect has that had on his defensive stats, which have been on the negative side all year?
