I've said it before, but I think Kelly can be a solid utility player for us. He's having a great season thus far.

FWIW, he was a very well-spoken, cordial, and professional guy when I interviewed him while in Aberdeen two seasons ago.

Kelly's been at 3B mostly, and while showing some pop this season, he doesn't profile as a "1st-division" starter in my view. Though listed at 6'/185, he's a bit shorter than that and built more like a 2B'man, which is where I'd imagine he'd have his best shot to start in the majors. A slim shot, but a shot. You hate to tag a guy in the minors with the Utility tag, but, it seems to fit.

Regardless, the former Cal-Davis star just seems to do everything the right way, and could find his way to Baltimore as early as September.

After putting up a .973 OPS for A+ Frederick and a .739 OPS for AAA Norfolk, Kelly continues his solid season at AA Bowie: .291/.364/.349 (712 OPS) with 5 doubles. Hes not hitting for the power he was at Frederick but he gets on base at a very good clip.
