Sounds like it's a matter of time until we lose one of the greatest athletes and most recognizable people in the world.

We heard this once before, I think it was the day the Ravens won the SB, and it wasn't true. Sadly I get the feeling it probably is this time.

In the conversations after the 2nd Spinks fight, you can tell he's not the same... he's already slow and slurred...

Ali on Dick Cavett in 1973... after he lost the first Frazier fight, and after the fight when Ken Norton broke Ali's jaw broken...
On Dick Cavett with Joe Frazier... 1974... after the 1st Frazier fight, a couple weeks before the 2nd fight... Frazier had lost to Foreman, so neither man was champ...

I am not sure if there was a more recognizable person in the world than Ali.
Its him, Obama or Jordan.
Perhaps there is an actor and/or music artist that you would throw in there but Ali may be #1.

When they took away his title for refusing to enter the army, they also took away his passport... so, he couldn't work at home, and he couldn't go work someplace else either... to pay the bills, he started speaking at colleges...
There's a movie you can rent online for a couple bucks (amazon and other other places) that shows his development as a public speaker during this phase... "The Trials of Muhammad Ali" https://www.rottento...ammad_ali_2013/

I know some don't care for the author of this article, but I really enjoyed this article by Olbermann, and recommend giving it a read: https://theringer.co...561b#.aojnumjgw

A really good article from someone who covered Ali all the way back to his Olympic gold medal and became good friends with him.

Written by a LinkedIn "Influencer" this might be the most succinct, but profound Ali tribute I've read so far.
