Already been talked about this thread.  Can be traded, but only with the player's approval, which most agree Matt wouldn't give.

Any Wieters trade discussions are purely hypothetical.

Sorry, did not read all they way up.   Your right, I doubt whether he would approve.

That is assuming the Orioles would even be pro-active enough to do anything with Matt.  He will probably be another guy who we should have traded at the deadline that we did not.

Just frustrated with how poorly the Orioles do business.

Anyone catch Buck's comments about Davis at the "Leadership" conference yesterday? Basically scolding Davis about being greedy. Agree or disagree I can't imagine that's going to have any positive effect on negotiations with Davis. Makes sense that they made the offer to Cespedes.

Yea I saw that.

Asking, how much is enough.

That's also some negotiating through the press.

OTOH, he's attacking the loyalty aspect of things.

Goes back to what Law was saying about how bad does Davis really want to be here?

Yeah, I think that was too much though...and I agree with him. I can't see that really helps negotiations. Almost seems like a parting shot.

I can't really blame him.  At this point, his camp is begging the Orioles to negotiate against themselves when he's getting no other legit offers.  It would have to drive the team nuts.  There's nothing that will help these negotiations except for adding another unjustified pile of cash to the already offered unjustified pile of cash.  There's no loyalty from Davis in any of this, while the team showed some in making a very fair offer early in FA.  Time for the O's to just move on already.

I find it bewildering when people criticize either side in the Davis / O's negotiation for their loyalty or lack thereof.  Neither owes anybody a damn thing.  If you're looking for loyalty from either your favorite organization or your favorite players, you are going to end up both disappointed and likely rooting for a terrible team.

I agree.  But, don't patronize everyone by saying how much you love Baltimore and want to come back...only to then prove you care about nothing but squeezing every last dime.

I'd argue anyone who hears those types of comments and thinks that it means Davis would take less money to stay is asking to be patronized.

And yet people get in a tizzy over DD saying he's going to add more OBP in the offseason and call him a liar and say it's perpetuating the Orioles poorly run front office too.

I won't say media reports are for suckers, but...you really do have to take any of them with a grain of salt of any kind.

There's a diff between saying you love Baltimore vs. ignoring what you agent advises you to do and needlessly jumping at the 1st offer...

It's not like he signed some place else... plus, it's not his job to do what's best for DD re: DD's total decision making...

People just want this resolved for their own reasons... as do I...  but the sane expectation is that these things just take time to play out...

I don't see how anyone can hold it against Davis that he is trying to get the best deal for himself.

The sad part is I don't see how he will be able to get what he wants, or how he can convince people that he is worth $200M.  I guess we will see.

I guess his agent thinks selling him as a corner outfielder will do it.
