I don't think the Ravens would take Floyd. I don't think many if anyone on this board does, hence the "surprise" pick.

That's besides the point.
Perriman was a guy some thought would go top 15...instead he fell well into the 20s.
That's a bad example of a fast riser, especially in the context of this conversation.

Not only later, but the second he ran at his pro day he was projected in the 1st round. Not what I consider a late riser. In fact, numerous mocks had him going before us
Much later pick.

I don't agree that it's a bad example. Perriman was thought of as a third-round pick, then he ran a fast 40 at his pro day. Now, I'm sure the Ravens probably were already higher on him than the third round before that 40, but there's no question he went from an after thought to what some considered a hot commodity.
I don't know that I consider Leonard Floyd a late riser. I've seen him top-12 in too many mock drafts to consider him a late riser. That said, Floyd would NOT solve the pass rushing problem. He's not that good of a pass rusher. But he is an all-around player capable of covering, defending the run and rushing the passer at roughly a B level. He's also athletic enough to believe he might get there as a pass rusher, but I'd rather take a guy who already knows what he's doing when rushing the passer.

Floyd has been up and down a bit, mostly sitting in the conversation as mid to late 1St until very recently where multiple outlets/media types have been talking him up as high as #5.

Teams boards are set at this point and probably have been for close to a month now.
If the Ravens like Floyd, they liked him months ago too. It's not like there is new film out there that teams are just now getting to see.

For a team like the Ravens, I agree.I don't buy into the risers/fillers at this point anyways.

Do we want a new Ravens general thread for tomorrow?
Want the Non-Ravens Draft thread moved to this section?

Could we have a designated draft thread? It could be the non-Ravens thread or a new draft day thread, something for the play -by- play.
