Yeah, that really changes things for Federer. Now, instead of Nadal in the quarters, he's looking at somebody like Isner or Wawrinka.

Yeah, that really changes things for Federer. Now, instead of Nadal in the quarters, he's looking at somebody like Isner or Wawrinka.
It will be interesting to see how far Isner can get, speaking of. If he can win in the next round it will be his first third-round appearance.

Nadal will likely never win a Major on a surface other than clay again. With his knees he's nearing the end of his career. He's 27 but physically as old as, if not older, than a 31 yr old Fed.

I saw most of the match. Quite surprising, but Nadal just didn't have it today.
I'm hoping for one last Wimbledon title for Fed.

I was just sitting here thinking, God damn Hewitt has been around forever. He's old as dirt.
I looked it up and I'm about 6 months older than him.

Rooting for Fed as usual and will continue to root for him until the US puts out a male tennis player worth rooting for.
There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Old man Hewitt just beat 11th seed Wawrinka in straight sets, so he's got some life left in him.
Big opportunity for Isner to reach the quarters now, and the field just keeps thinning for Federer.

Yeah, good for Hewitt I say - represented the "old guys" pretty well today. Although he annoyed me earlier in his career (to me he looked very much the smug prick then), I'm glad he still catches notice every now and then. He's been a fine player, but got left behind in the major tournaments once Federer really got going and some guys a little younger (and often taller) joined in the fray.
Nadal didn't want to talk about his knee, citing it as just "an excuse." It will be interesting to see how he physically progresses from here. He was obviously favoring the knee late in the match, but even earlier on there wasn't that usual movement, on several occasions. Hopefully he will be in the mix for the U.S. Open. Shotwise, the backhand, especially the slice, wasn't there, and he had no confidence in that side. Many of his other go-tos, including his drop shots, weren't there, either. I don't know how many times he hit the net cord.

Same here, though I would love to see Murray win at Wimbledon as well.
And I can't follow tennis as closely as I used to, but are there even any up and coming American men who could slide into the GS picture? What a depressing time for US men's tennis.
