A couple of things stand out. 1) The further reaction of smaller market teams to the new CBA, and 2) The national story that no younger prospective GM candidate would consider coming to Baltimore.

As I said during that process, I had first-hand knowledge of multiple young Executives who appeared on multiple 3rd party lists as qualified options, who were interested in the position. Unfortunately, the O's never even approached several of them. Still, I don't think it is fair to say the O's had to 'settle' for the older Duquette.

LaCava would have lauded by many. He's 3 years younger than Duquette, and has never sat behind the big chair before.
