How much would people care if we found single-cell or simple organisms living on another planet. Do you think that would be a big deal?

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

I come from the perspective of believing it is pretty obvious that the universe is full of life.... but many others think it is obvious it does not.

So, conclusive evidence of some life (not even intelligent) would be profound.

How can anyone believe there is no life anywhere else in the universe?

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Is hard for me to understand that pov, but it does exist.

When you see that there are anywhere between 300-900 billion planets in the habitable zones of our galaxy.... and you know that in the observable universe there are about 100 billion galaxies.... it just defies reason imo to hold that opinion.

Yeah, I don't think people are going to make a big deal when they find simple organisms. Finding intelligent life would be a different story. It's almost certain both are out there.

Remember this? People went NUTS.

I think actual, real signs of alien life, even at the unicellular level, would be one of the most important discoveries of all time.

It would be hard to process for some people because of religious beliefs.  I could see it having an impact

<p>I am pretty sure Shack is thinking of PBR.

The beliefs can definitely be reconciled. However, just think how many similar reconcilable beliefs there are out there that people refuse to accept.
