Really wish the Ravens would go after this guy.

A red zone threat who still gets a good YPC is just sitting there and the Ravens really need a red zone threat.

Currently the WRs are: Boldin, T. Smith, Jones, Doss, L. Williams, T. Streeter, D. Reed (7)

I guess Streeter could wind-up on IR, and Reed could be released.... but I don't really see the need for Plaxico, though I agree he could contribute in the Red Zone.

I know that I'd rather have Jones overall.

Problem is, none of these guys are really legit red zone threats...maybe Boldin but he isn't what he used to be.

As you said, Streeter could be on IR, Reed is cut and you sign Plax...that is 6 WRs.

Totally agree. No-brainer if I was running the team. Joe is the franchise. Give him all the help you can give him.

The main issue I see in signing Plax is that then your top 4 WRs all will never play ST (KO/PR coverage wise) which means you have to find an extra body for ST at another position. Is it worth it for the RZ threat that Plax will bring? I think so, but just wanted to play devil's advocate with my post.

Probably still a good many 2 TEs sets down there with Dickson and Pitta. When they actually do spread the field out and go 3 or 4 wide in the redzone you're likely to see Boldin, Smith, Jones, and Pitta. At this point, really don;t see the need for Plax though I would have been in favor of him over Jones, especially at the cost. I've already said that I can see Asa Jackson taking over the return duties from Jones at some point anyway.

Plax catches the all. Trust him a lot more than Dickson in the red zone.

I agree with your premise but we are up against the cap and there are bigger needs. I still think you could see a linebacker/pass rusher or another veteran OL guy before we think about adding a guy like Plaxico

I disagree. Our biggest need is putting the ball in the end zone.

Having a dependable Oline helps greatly in putting the ball in the end zone.

Good point in the previous post about the salary cap. Believe they have about $700k right now.

I wouldn't mind seeing Plax up in this joint, but honestly how much is it going to cost?

Streeter who SG automatically relegated to the IR is a big 6'6'' guy who has had flashes in the red zone already.

Bottom line, gotta get Rice/Flacco long term before we can do anything.

I hated the the Jacoby Jones signing for this specific reason. Much rather had Plax.

Streeter would have to make a huge impact not only as a WR but on ST to make the 53 man roster. Highly unlikely to happen.

Having a dependable Oline helps greatly in putting the ball in the end zone.

So does having a better system.

However, having a real red zone threat with great height is a huge asset and something this team needs.

Couldn't Pitta be that red zone threat? Dude has great hands and seemed to be improving as the season progressed including a couple of great catches in the NE game. He also has the height needed as he's listed at 6-4.

Yea, he is likely the only real red zone threat(outside of Rice). Need another one.

I think guys like Dickson could also evolve into that Red Zone target. That takes expierience which is gained with opportuntity.

Play Calling also creates chances. Torrey Smith's TD in the AFC Championship game was off a bubble screen. It was a strict speed play, something we did not take advantage of much in 2011. Throwing lobs and slants to tall recievers are just 2 of the many ways to score in the Red Zone

Apparently Plax wants to go to Carolina.

Seems like he's only going somewhere that he really wants to go to.
