The Terps are moving on to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament. After beating Valparaiso in the Round of 64, they'll face West Virginia on Sunday. In this article, I recap what we saw from the Terps in their win over the Crusaders, and look ahead to what to expect out of both teams on Sunday.

They've just announced that this game will tip off at approximately 8:40 PM ET on TNT.

Wow. Would have thought we had a shot at being one of the two exclusive games that they show early on in the day. Really glad I decided not to go to Columbus. Can't imagine driving home at 11:30 at night.

Someone needs to remind Huggins and Turgeon that the start time is to accommodate the TV networks, who make up the lion's share of college sports revenues today. And, it should go without saying, those revenues constitute a huge portion of their multi-million dollar salaries. Are they willing to take a pay cut for the sake of their players getting to sleep earlier?...
...I didn't think so.
That said, it seems a little weird that today a game that was played in Portland ended well before two other games in the Eastern Time Zone, one being played in Jacksonville and the other In Pittsburgh (and the Pittsburgh game wasn't even at halftime when the Portland game ended). Not that it matters as much on a Saturday, but still odd.

I think this is more the issue than the idea that they are accommodating TV over the athletes (even though they are, of course). Why do you have Eastern time zone games scheduled to run later than Pacific time zone games?
